Overview

Topological Data Analysis (TDA) is a new research area on the interface between Mathematics and Computer Science.

TDA quantifies topological structures hidden in organized data such as point clouds by studying the data across all scales.

The fundamental result says that the topological description of data(a persistence diagram) is stable under perturbations, hence applicable to real noisy data.

Entry Requirements

      
Academic ability

Students are normally expected to achieve a minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA in engineering or a related discipline relevant for the proposed area of research, such as physics, computer science, applied mathematics or chemistry.


Language requirement

Students whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English.

Acceptable English qualifications include:
• IELTS (International English Language Testing System) 
• TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
• Pearson (Academic)
• Cambridge Advanced English (CAE)
• Trinity College Integrated Skills in English 

Students without any English qualificantion need to arrange an interview with program staff.
